Release Date, Cast, Renewed or Canceled
Home improvement is all about inspirational ideas and expert tips; we shall all agree to that. If we see any house renovation idea, we are like — “Wow, that was so easy, why didn’t I think of that before?” Well, HGTV’s reality docu-series, headlined by designer and real estate expert, Christina Angstead, is all about motivating homeowners to get started with their long-pending remodels. As the official synopsis goes, it’s about creating “luxe spaces filled with distinctive design elements and cool SoCal style.” Titled, ‘Christina on the Coast’, the show first premiered on Discovery-owned HGTV on May 23, 2019.
Christina on the Coast Cast: Who is in it?
As we already mentioned, Christina Anstead hosts this HGTV documentary show. She is an American real estate investor and TV personality, whom you might already know from HGTV’s other hit series, ‘Flip or Flop’, where she features alongside her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa. Christina shared her excitement about the show in a press release, “Design is my favorite part of the house-flipping process and I can’t wait to be able to now work directly with clients and create a space they’ve always dreamed of having.”
Apart from Christina, her blended family also makes cameo appearances in the program. You can catch regular glimpses of Ant Anstead, her current husband, in every almost every episode of the series.
Christina on the Coast Plot: What is it about?
‘Christina on the Coast’ is Anstead’s solo show that follows her as she embarks on various design projects. Apart from this, it also lends insights into her personal life. We get to see how the couple goes about listing and selling her previous home in Yorba Linda and embarking on a fresh house hunt in Newport Beach. Additionally, we witness how they renovate their new property. She designs clients’ houses as well, thus making the concept of this show completely different from that of ‘Flip or Flop‘ — which mainly revolves around designing houses for the masses. Here, she remodels homes according to her clients’ personal style, which involves a lot of interaction and getting to know people. Rather than just knocking down walls, it explores more luxurious, high-end design trends. As she offers advice to homeowners, viewers at home also get a few transformation tips which they can use in their own living spaces.
Here are a few examples of makeover projects that Christina undertakes across the episodes. She helps out her childhood friend, Cassie, who moves back to her home in Anaheim Hills, California. The property has not been updated for the last 17 years and Christina needs to work her magic in transforming this outdated space, focussing particularly on the kitchen, living, and dining area. (SPOILER: She also surprises her friend with an extravagant outdoor patio for their buddies to hang out together!). Next, she tackles a couple’s old and dingy master suite home, which really demands a good remodel. Here, she works toward converting the bathroom and bedroom into stunning, functional spaces. Again, she attempts to aid a couple in altering their compact, drab master suite into a dreamy bathroom in their Huntington Beach home.
We also get to see Christina and her family’s own makeover journey. Cameras follow her and Ant as they aim to complete their kitchen renovation before the arrival of the second child. We also get to witness the couple as they give a full metamorphosis to their backyard, converting it into an all-inclusive outdoor paradise, complete with tropical vibes, a water slide, outdoor kitchen, bar, and hot tub.
