Release Date, Cast, Renewed or Canceled
‘Power’ is an American crime drama television series that airs on Starz and has been created by Courtney A. Kemp, whose other notable works include ‘The Good Wife‘ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Kemp is a co-producer of the show along with Curtis Jackson, popularly known as 50 Cent.
The show has evolved so much over the course of its previous five seasons. The course of evolution has been from good to one of the best shows currently out there. It has got the suspense and thrill you would need from a crime drama. It also has one of the best lead characters in the form of James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick. We are introduced to this ruthless drug dealer who tries to escape the criminal world and go legitimate as a nightclub owner. However, he has to balance both of his lives and try and evade capture from law enforcement, all the while he watches his marriage and family life crumble in front of his eyes.
The characterization, writing, acting, directing, atmosphere and pacing of the show have made it a hit among the fans but critics have been a little reserved in their initial praise of the show due to the heavy plotting and some of the formulaic elements that it resorts to.
Power Cast: Who is in it?
The cast of ‘Power’ has given us some characters to root for over the seasons and to get attached to. As the show returns for another season, we take a look at the main characters who are expected to return. Obviously, Omari Hardwick of ‘Kick-Ass‘ and ‘The A-Team‘ fame appears as James “Ghost” St. Patrick, a well-known player in the drug world and a nightclub owner. Joseph Sikora, who can be seen in shows like ‘Grey’s Anatomy‘ and ‘Criminal Minds‘, plays the role of Tommy Egan, who is not just Ghost’s partner, but has been his friend for so long that he is an honorary member of the family. Naturi Naughton of ‘Fame’ and ‘Notorious’ will also return as Tasha, James’ wife, and his criminal accomplice.
Michael Rainey Jr. as Tariq St. Patrick, Rotimi Akinosho as Andre “Dre” Coleman, and La La Anthony as LaKeisha Grant are all scheduled to return. Grant is Tasha’s friend and later their money launderer, who also has a relationship with James’ partner Tommy. Lela Loren appears as Angela Valdes, a US Attorney hunting Ghost, but happens to be in love with James. Although we see her get shot in the previous season, she is not dead and will return. Kanan Stark, a fellow dealer, and James’ mentor, played by 50 Cent is as dead as can be, and will not be returning.
