The Lion Guard Plot: What is it about?
Kion, the second-born son of Simba and Nala, is born with the heavy and proud responsibility that comes from being the leader of the Lion Guard. The survival of the Pride Lands depends upon the members of the Lion Guard. Kion is the first lion cub to break the rule of the Lion Guard by gathering a force consisting not only of lions but a group of four animals, namely Fuli the cheetah, Beshte, the hippopotamus, Ono, the egret and Bunga, the honey badger. They are aided by the guiding spirit of Mufasa, Kion’s grandmother.
Kion’s evil great-uncle Scar returns in Season 2 with the sole intention of reclaiming the Pride Lands. He once was the protector but had misused his powers and was condemned after a fierce fight with Simba. Scar is now assembling his force by offering advice to the enemies of the Lion Guard and is bringing together animals from the Outlands. Scar reveals himself in front of all Pridelanders and threatens Simba by claiming that he will take back the Pridelands in no time. But eventually, the Lion Guard with the help of Simba and all the animals that Kion gathered, can send him back to the Outlands.
The appearance of Scar makes the Pridelanders extremely worried but King Simba tells them that Kion knew about it but kept it a secret because it was he who had instructed Kion to do so. Being a king, he did not want his subjects to be worried. The Pridelanders are assured after Kion shows them that Markini’s little baobab sapling had survived the attack of Scar. Kion delivers the message that they can survive the hard times only if they stand together.
